A fellow blogger, Kimbo from A Girl and a Glue Gun, has started a holiday. Yes, she did! She's a girl after my own heart. You may remember that I started a campaign to move the Month of March. It wasn't very effective but Kimbo is on to something here. Her's just may work. National Leave A Comment Day is created to encourage readers to leave comments on blog posts.
Blogging can be very enriching and rewarding. The blogger pours out her heart to her readers sharing her skills, gifts and talents. It also can be very lonely if you don't hear from anybody. "Is anybody out there READING my stuff?"
Receiving Facebook likes, Tweets and multiple Pins is exciting but comments are more personal. They are thought out. They take a little bit of time. They also speak to inanimate objects like SEARCH ENGINES to tell them that someone out there is really reading the blog. Search engines are not people but, if they think you're popular, they will let more people know that you are there. End result: more readers! Bloggers cannot help but give a little thought to search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo etc).
So, Kimbo declared that February 19th is now National Blog Comment Day. Today, when you read a blog post that you like, please leave a comment. Make a point of visiting a few of your favorite sites to do just that.
Let's see if we can get our favorite bloggers some significant happy-feedback!
Tip: Comments left on Facebook pages are also a very happy thing.
I'm partying here.
