A is for Ant

By Sinea Pies

A is for Apple but A is also for Ant and that's what we did for my first real preschool lesson this year. It was fun!

We saw live ants building tunnels in their artificial ant hill.  We made our own ants (ant craft). We played an ant race game and we read ant books!  It was a day of preschool science, reading and fun! Here is how the day went ...

Lesson Ideas
Read Ant Books
Play Ant Race Game
Do an Ant Craft
Look at a Live Ant Hill
Teach about ant physiology (pictured above), community, environment, work habits of ants.

List of Ant Books
The Magic Schoolbus Gets Ants In Its Pants
The Ants Go Marching (classic book with holes)
The Ant and the Grasshopper (an interactive book)
The Ant and the Grasshopper (hard cover)

Are you a homeschooling parent or preschool teacher? What other ideas for the letter A do you use? (Links are welcome!)
